Patient Guidelines
Do's & Don'ts
Getting the most out of your homeopathic treatment involves more than just taking your remedy. Here is everything you should know to support your healing.
The Do's
Take remedies as directed
Follow your homeopath's instructions on timing, frequency, and potency precisely. Do not increase doses on your own — more is not better in homeopathy.
Keep remedies in your mouth for 30 seconds
Place pills directly under the tongue or allow them to dissolve in the mouth. Avoid swallowing them immediately with water.
Store remedies correctly
Keep homeopathic medicines in a cool, dry place away from strong sunlight, heat, and strong-smelling substances like camphor, perfume, or essential oils.
Inform your homeopath of all medications
Tell your homeopath about every conventional drug, supplement, or herbal remedy you are taking. This ensures the most appropriate prescription.
Report any changes — positive or negative
Inform your homeopath if you notice any new symptoms, changes in existing symptoms, or significant life events. These are important prescribing signals.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle
Homeopathic treatment works best alongside good sleep, adequate hydration, balanced nutrition, and stress management. Health is holistic.
Be patient with chronic conditions
Conditions that took years to develop need time to heal. Trust the process, attend follow-ups, and communicate openly with your homeopath.
Seek emergency care when needed
For emergencies — accidents, chest pain, breathing difficulty, severe infections — always seek immediate conventional medical care first. Homeopathy is complementary, not a replacement for emergency medicine.
The Don'ts
Don't self-prescribe for serious conditions
While first-aid homeopathy for minor acute conditions is reasonable, do not attempt to self-prescribe for chronic or serious diseases. The complexity requires professional expertise.
Don't take remedies with coffee or strong mint
Coffee, strong mint (including mint-flavoured toothpaste), camphor, and eucalyptus are considered antidotes to homeopathic remedies. Avoid them 30 minutes before and after taking your remedy.
Don't handle remedies excessively
Tip remedies directly from the cap into the mouth without touching them with your fingers. Handling can contaminate the remedy.
Don't stop your conventional medicines without advice
Never discontinue prescribed conventional medications on your own. If your homeopath believes a drug is interfering with treatment, they will guide you on how to discuss tapering with your conventional doctor.
Don't expect the same result as a friend or family member
Homeopathy is highly individualised. The remedy that helped your friend may not be right for you, even if you have the same diagnosis.
Don't keep taking the same remedy indefinitely
Follow your homeopath's guidance on when to take and when to stop a remedy. Continuing a remedy after adequate response is unnecessary and may cause complications.
Don't expose remedies to strong radiation or chemicals
Keep remedies away from X-ray machines, mobile phones, microwave ovens, and strong chemical odours (paint, perfume, pesticides). These may affect potency.
Don't rely on online remedy finders for serious conditions
Online symptom-remedy matchers are generalised and cannot replicate the depth of a professional case analysis. They are useful only for very basic acute self-care.
Storing Your Remedies
