While hypertension dominates medical attention, symptomatic low blood pressure — dizziness on standing, persistent fatigue, fainting, and cold extremities — significantly affects quality of life. Constitutional homeopathy is well suited to the constitutional types that tend toward hypotension.
Types of Hypotension
Orthostatic (postural) hypotension — a drop in blood pressure on standing — is the most common and most symptomatic form. It manifests as dizziness, light-headedness, or visual darkening when rising from a sitting or lying position. It is common in lean, thin-framed individuals, the elderly, those on certain medications (diuretics, antihypertensives, antidepressants), and during pregnancy.
Chronic constitutional hypotension — a persistently low baseline blood pressure with symptoms of fatigue, cold hands and feet, difficulty concentrating, and tendency to feel cold — is the primary indication for homeopathic constitutional treatment. Secondary hypotension from heart failure, dehydration, severe infection, or internal bleeding requires urgent medical assessment.

Aconite

Low blood pressure with cold hands and feet
With low blood pressure, less blood reaches the hands and feet, so cold hands and feet, fatigue and dizziness on standing are common. Cold extremities can also come from Raynaud's disease (fingers turning white or blue in the cold), anaemia, an underactive thyroid or poor circulation, so the cause is worth checking with your doctor.
Orthostatic hypotension is a drop in blood pressure on standing up — usually more than 20 mm Hg systolic — which causes light-headedness or fainting. It is common in older people, with dehydration, and with some blood pressure and prostate medicines.
Remedies for hypotension: everyday measures
- Drink enough fluids through the day; dehydration is a common cause.
- Stand up slowly, especially from bed — sit on the edge first.
- Eat smaller, more frequent meals; large meals can lower blood pressure.
- Compression stockings can help if your doctor advises them.
- Only increase salt intake if your doctor advises it — not if you have heart or kidney disease.
- See a healthcare professional for fainting, chest pain, a racing heart or black stools.
Persistent dizziness and fatigue deserve proper attention.
Constitutional homeopathy addresses the underlying vitality deficit that drives chronic hypotension. Let us assess your complete picture and find the remedy that restores your energy.
